a poem by ROY Douglas KNEALE, UK

When first you lay beside me
I was young and so were you
This life it seemed was perfect
For our love was sweet and true:

Each time you lay beside me
You entranced me with your charms
To paradise you took me
As I held you in my arms:

When last you lay beside me
We knew not you soon would die;
Now, each kiss on your pillow
Is a lonely tear I cry.
