'Grin Memory

a poem by Olomolehin John, Nigeria

Your music peeled within me
a massive fillet of interest
and swung me into the circle of your fans
Those lyrics emitted peculiarity and uncommon flavors
like the unique touch of a bestselling author
Your style held my passion as a deep kiss
and my eyes sieved and magneted your songs
even amidst deafening street noises

But while i flaunted my new love for you
i got dazed; you were the one who just died
My heart sunk, deflated and embittered
And at every remembrance of your name
a stone do i always add to the monument
i raised in my heart for that flame
that quenched too soon.

FOR: Dagrin, a young,super-talented musician who died in a car crash.
