A Different Person

a poem by Skye Kerri- Leigh Bagshaw, UK

It would be wrong not to mourn you
But if I missed you too much I wouldn't have learnt
Anything from your example.
You made me a different person
When I was you, and who I am now
And both of them are strong
Experienced and optimistic
But alternative and yet popular
Yet the loss of the barrier
Has made me more honest, genuine and alive
Which I have to thank
Because it has allowed me to survive.
