Cool Winter

a poem by Kevin Rottweiler, USA

Snowflakes like peppermint
falling on dog tongues
licking ice chips
from salty lips
tadpoles hide under
the ice
as leaves turn colors
and then dogs bark
scraping paws of ice
attempting to find the minnows!
an entire universe
lives in the cool winter
the trees scream out
to the wind
hurry back summer
please come back spring
but horse breath
is a mist in the air
and dog tails keep wagging
paw prints everywhere
can keep a person busy
snowflakes on my shoes

Elephant Barn
Changing Seasons of Rain
Noah's Coffeehouse
