a poem by Leif Phillips, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

hold me close
take my dreams and leave me
careless of thorn
in the soft petals of rose
tender in your arms
strange in your charms
washed in web as it's wove
hold me close
taste my spirit within
this cup made full
held beautiful and empty
alive in your giving
strange as time burns
tender love learns
signs in the living
held me close
held light constant and real
a single sound sighing
planets grown of the dying
obscured of all they steal
a sky just dreaming
colours made of the seaming
winds rushing at the wheel.
