True Love

a poem by Phillip Joseph Hussey, UK

Love is like a perfect diamond
It remains most ever fond
Of the one on whom bestowed
In passion it forever flowed
Seasons come and seasons go
Yet it remains untainted so
Steadfast even when spurned
There inside where it burned
Though its flame may get dim
Within the cloyed heart’s rim
Deep inside it remains so sweet
When summoned runs so fleet
Back to where it belongs
Singing again melodious songs
It’s flame burns without measure
Filling love with it’s treasure
