She Cries--She Laughs

a poem by Linda Bates Terrell, USA

Her good, yes, outruns her bad.
Her tears then, all she had.
Laughs suppressed lingers within.
Only to surface, her sympathetic grin.

She swirls amidst life's hope, she hides.
amidst a funneling of their desperate lies.
She screnges of all lost hope.
while beneath, she masters envy's slope.

She reaches her life's balcony.
Ah, where smiles reside, all airy.
She cradles herself, within sad ways.
She must, she is, and does as heart says.

Life's clouds release her sunny days.
She puts behind her those dreary days
She, calmly lowly utters "Ah, at last"
Where she laughs at her long ago past.
