Hold A Friendship Key

a poem by Linda Bates Terrell, USA

Oh yes, I seen her
Did you see that ugly hairdo
And oh my, those awful pants

Oh yes, I seen her
Did you see that ugly hat
And oh my, those horrid shoes

Oh yes, I seen her
Did she always look like that
And was we friends in school

Oh yes, we were friends
Did she really look like that
And is her belly really that fat

When someone says,
"Oh I like her--but
the way she used to be.
She's changed."

Well, obviously--
they never liked
her at all.

People that love you
from the heart
never stop,
no matter what,

Change is
just another
loving level.

Caring, friendship
are a part of life.

Within a
friendship lock
of sorts,
and real friends,
forever
hold the eternal keys.
