You don't know

a poem by Michelle Klemm, Germany - poetry writer, author, poet

You don't know, how much it hurts,
tugging at my heartstrings,
my strength and cheerfulness desert,
sadness and sorrow it brings.

You don't tell me yourself – thoughtfully?
You don't know, you're hurting me.
My tears you do not see,
your words are poisoning me.

You are spurning my feelings
and don't even recognize.
Is this the punishment you are imposing?
You don't know that I agonize.

Tell me and look in my face this time!
You don't, you don't know the pain of mine.
