this afternoon all the clocks went wrong (challenge)

a poem by Leif Phillips, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

this afternoon
all the clocks went wrong
the gardens spoke
no more of song
no children smiled
in playful game
nor parents watching
smiling the same
the sky refused
to greet the day
all numbers fell
to end-less delay
no breeze was felt
upon a cheek
no minutes became
hours into days and week
a single spring
as important as hands
was left to rust
frail of all fools demands
a moth lay still
under broken wings
this afternoon
no more time it brings
the night refused
to move the hours of sand
only the silent glistening of time
falling to the oceans remand.
