School out for Summer

a poem by Kevin Rottweiler, USA

a blue sky and yellow bus crawls to a halt
no more lunch boxes for several months
tired parents afraid of more bills
but find cheap vacations somewhere
old-fashioned inner tubes
ice cream socials
a day at the zoo
too many elephants passing gas
meant for laughing children only (ha ha)
as parents feel queasy
life this summer not easy
hold on to your hats
hold on to your hats
a blue sky and yellow bus crawls to a halt
