This Father's Day

a poem by Hina Firdose, India

This father’s day, send an e-card to your dad the greetings ads say
On VN, beautiful odes to celebrate father’s day
I closed my eyes, I turned away
My father ain’t here
Said rolling from my eye a tear
Then, in my dream, said a voice, “come here!”
I smiled, it was he
Just there beside me
Ah!! that moment of glee!
From a small book, he began reading a line
I saw in his eyes those twinkles shine
As he read that unwritten poetry of mine
He patted my back n said, “Well done!!
Thank you, that’s a nice one!”
“But...!!,”he gasped with a heavy heart
Pointing to those sad parts
N my eyes cried those silent tears from his heart
