My Invisible Child

a poem by Skye Kerri- Leigh Bagshaw, UK

I had a pregnancy scare
But my fear only started
Because baby you weren't there
And from me my motherly role departed.
I worried that my dream would never be,
That I couldn't reproduce
And you would never be with me
So my life would be loose
Of obligation but empty still
Of cries, nappies and giggles
And that gap life won't fill
Because my stomach won't show my babies wriggles.
