Liverpool Ode.

a poem by Mark Ainslie, UK

Mersey pride upon my streets,
Of football legends and merseybeats.
So many things to see and do,
Where one is born a red, or born a blue.

Mighty buildings in my hometown,
With iconic Liverbirds looking down.
The Albert dock and St Georges Hall,
Amongst the finest of them all.

The majestic views The Mersey embraces,
The Pier Head, and The Three Graces.
Famous landmarks stand the test of time,
Giving a warm welcome to this city of mine.

The ever flowing Mersey tide,
Where old and new, stand side by side.
This city now over eight hundred years old,
Historic memories and stories told.
