a poem by UKAONU DORIS OBIANUJU, Nigeria

I cry so hard to get a trying chance,
You laugh at my fails,
Your laugh did have me in splits,
I wonder who's teeth should be on..
ME or YOU, on and on I wonder...
What about you who prefers to bench all the time,
You who would throw tantrums to be salt in the water,so that none would see,
A light to be shrouded so that dark you can be.
Yet you parade yourself in laughter.

You laugh cause I volunteer to lead the team,
Why not come thither than wither since you've got it all,
Just maybe you haven't heard that hardwork gives talent a run for its money...
I promise to make you believe without a force,
The fruit of my work would just be the cause,
And if you still would not try but laugh,
I promise to also make me laugh also,
But not before I make you cry.
