I(s) of the world

a poem by Raghunandan Ram, India

I(s) of the world,
I(s) of the Self
In a tip-toe
Of life,
Red & White,
Sweating & searching
To dominate & deprive
Are at a tug of war.
I(s) of the world
Playing tricks & games
Of Casio(s) & Iago(s)
To undo I(s) of the Self
& Lord Krishna’s oneness
Of Beings :
‘Eko aham dvitiyo na asti’
And to negate all you(s)
& mantras of emancipation:
‘To feel others’ sorrow
In own’.
I(s) of the world
& I(s) of the Self
In a tip-toe
Of life,
Red & White,
Combating & conflicting,
Scoring points
Of mind games & whims
To own & overpower
Are at a tug of war.
