a poem by Mobani Biswas, India - poetry writer, author, poet

My world shattered when we parted,
the day when you burnt me into ashes.
Didn’t your heart melt,
And dampened your eyelashes?

Was pity far away from your heart,
When I was attacked by poisonous darts?
Was your mind so steeled against me,
That you didn’t flinch seeing me suffering.

I was burning, my world collapsed,
And you simply walked away unscathed.
Was there a vaccum in your heart?
which was filled with love at the start.

The love we shared was extinguished
In the blink of an eye,
Was it so easy to walk away,
While I murmured and cried?

I was burning, I was in pain,
I had nothing to lose or to gain.
My world was bleak and vision was blurred,
But your heart never did waver.

I was ashes and still remain
But hope from my heart will never fade.
Rise from the ashes, maybe I will.
But I am not a phoenix to possess the skill.
