The Music Of The Summer Rain

a poem by Nishu Mathur, India

Splash
Gentle pitter patter
Drops scatter
Symphony on leaves
Echoes in a puddle
Plop
Rain drops
A soft drizzle
The summer breeze whistles
A quiet murmur -
A sweet refrain
A lullaby
In the sky

Clouds gather
Dark lather
Thunder claps
Lightning spot lights
A louder strain
Splatter
Drummers in heaven
Drumming crystal drumsticks
Rain quickens
Beating on roofs
Glass ceilings
Pounding
Like hooves
Of horses
Faster and faster
Harder and harder
A crescendo

Then clouds begin to leave
Mellow turns the eve
Drops scatter
The beat slows
Sweet rhythm
Plop
Rain drops
A warm drizzle
Gentle patter
Splish
Splash
Slosh

A SUMMER SONG
Let your life lightly dance to the music...
