ODE TO MY MOTHER (67th Musketeer Inspiration Challenge)

a poem by Mobani Biswas, India - poetry writer, author, poet

****Today, 11th june is my mom's birthday, this one is written to express my gratitude towards her****

I wasn’t born wrapped up in expensive fur,
Your arms provided the warmth and shelter.
The slow rocking of your lap,
gave me the most peaceful naps.

My cries of hurt and hunger,
vanished at your loving attentions.
The soft touch of your hands,
cured every fear and anger I ever had.

Your ever smiling face, is my constant companion,
I was lucky to have you as my mother.
I never can fully appreciate your goodness,
words would fall short for your tenderness.

You have shaped me up into what I am today,
My first teacher & my companion for everyday.
Your sacrifices for me, I can never count,
For me you are the biggest gift on earth from god.

In your room of gentle love,
On that delicate roundtable of your kindness
I have seen myself grow,
With you like an angel watching my progress.

For all you have done, thank you, is a small word,
I adore you, love you and that’s all that can be done.
All you have done for me deserves more than my reverence,
My only wish is to give you happiness in abundance.
