Nowhere

a poem by Mariam Gabrielle, United Arab Emirates

Where are you? Where are you? Where are you?
I thought you will carry me when I fall through?
I anticipated your protection and shield
Instead, you left me crying alone in the field.

Do I need to beg for you to see my value?
Pain not appreciation is what you imbue.
When will you ever see my worth?
Hurt just keeps on coming back and forth.

I thought I found my knight in shining armor in you.
But he doesn’t seem to exist, fallacy, not true.
I have believed you will shelter me when rain fall.
How can you exist without being there at all?

Emptiness is what I see.
I can’t even smile and glee
How can you be so carefree?
Being with you seems I’m at sea.
