My Mother, My All...

a poem by Myrna Martin, USA

She gave me life when she didn't have too...
She chose to see me grow...
All her hopes and dreams for me...
Were unfolding like a beautiful rose...
I always wanted to make her proud..
Instead, I know I caused her pain...
As only a Mother knows...
When a Daughter loses her way...
Life is about growing,...
And all of the growing pains...
Of learning and communicating...
And of course, allowing change...
Always for the better...
And trying to succeed...
Because life is about choices...
And it's up to you and me...
My past does not define me...
Mistakes in life do happen...
It's not the end you see...
Failed marriages, and broken hearts..
Is not the only part of me...
My heart is good and loving...
But, I want her to be proud of me..
So, I will continue to make changes..
I learned I don't have to be afraid....
I thought I couldn't do it on my own...
But, now I know...
And I can find my own way...
I can be that successful woman...
Paying my bills and making my way...
Of learning to be strong enough,
be that role model for my Daughter, always...
I had a good teacher, a loving Mother who gives her all...
I am blessed beyond measure...To be her Daughter...
This woman who gave me life, This Woman, My Mother...
My All.......
