My Mother Would Tend The Garden...

a poem by Myrna Martin, USA

My Mother would tend the garden...
It grew with all of her care...
Amazing that this garden...
Provided our table fare...
We were never hungry...
And our clothes were beautifully done...
My Mother was talented with a thread and needle...
Her children lacked for none...
You couldn't tell we didn't have money...
It was evident by her care...
This beautiful, survivor, woman...
Amazingly quiet...
I never knew the burden of our care...
