When Less is More

a poem by Nishu Mathur, India

One less party to go
One less visit to stores
One less dinner to host -
And though less, it is still more.

For with that gift of treasure and time
Drape a blanket on those cold
Or share some laughter and a smile
With the homeless and the old.

And though days may come and go
Ushering another dawn
Let compassion stay in hearts
Let the spirit of goodwill linger on.
