Pierogi song

a poem by Krzeslawa T. Skrzypczynska, Poland - poetry writer, author, poet

you cannot know
Pierogi, all dripping
with browned flour butter
its unusual smell
and its content
grasped to cake
you cannot know
its savor note too
Verily, you cannot
They are so peculiar
For what my compatriot
Would give his soul or not
They are our hymn
And the guarantee for coming
Into being in European union
Like Bigos and Golonka
Smile and ask me
What are they
That Pierogi, Bigos or Golonka
Smile, because those are
Our national ravioli
Thus… better ones
Our dish made of something
What a secret is
And also
Our knuckle of…
What a pork for you… is
That’s all
Try it
