a poem by Phillip Joseph Hussey, UK

Friendship is a bond
In varying degrees
like flowers in a garden
needing tending and caring
Yet some are weeds
Beautiful yet evil
Ulteriorally motive inspired
Or desperate company
Shallow and ill defined
These need extraction
Some are dying loves
Fostered by memories
Untamed and untested
A glimpse of what could be
Others need composting
Crushed and buried
Forever and forgotten
Others are overgrown
Bent and and ruined
Some are evergreen
Eternal in favour
Love and respect
These are rarely found
A treasure to behold
Friends can be
A garland around you
Or a plague on your life
It depends on you
