don't tell

a poem by Myrna Martin, USA

I struggle with my pain...
I have forgiven, but yet the memories remain...
Other people get defensive, do not want to believe what was done...
But I lived through it, and never told anyone..
Especially when I was young....
Be a good girl, be quiet...
Silence is key...
Don't tell, don't tell..
Otherwise, "he will beat me"...
@4/6/17

Sometimes, people will protect their abuser, especially in a family situation. Out of love, out of conditioning, etc...
I protected mine, because if I didn't that person would get beaten... But, yet my protection of him, never stopped him from abusing me..
A vicious cycle...
A PERSON WILL NEVER FORGET HOW SOMEONE MADE THEM FEEL....

PTSD
Pain...
travel through time.... (Pain,Forgivness,Healing)
