My sun

a poem by Cinde Dreyer, South Africa - poetry writer, author, poet

You are my sun
I run to your door
in search of warmth
Hold you
while you wrap your rays around me
Expose my shadows
that I chase after
Those dark figures that
dance around me all day,
overwhelmingly surround me at night
In search of you
I always turn on my light
let it flow over me with a similar delight
Dim come days before me
dim without your light
cold without your warmth
But safe I feel
when you stand at my door,
as your rays hit the floor
As your rays hit my heart
to expose my core.
