I see the way you look at me

a poem by Elizabeth Grace Shearer, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

I see the way you look at me
with a sparkle in your eye
I am enough for you
so much so you were willing to die

I see the way you look at me
When I don't know what to do
You gently take my hand
and pull me closer into you

I see the way you look at me
with a sadness on your face
When I'm stood in front of the mirror
calling myself a disgrace

I see the way you look at me
when danger stands in my way
you're pushing back temptations
with a simple not today

I see the way you look at me
your face lit up with pride
As a daddy does his daughter
when he knows she really tried

I see the way you look at me
with an everlasting gaze
because the way you love me
it could never be a phase

I see the way you look at me
when I'm too weak and do wrong
but instead of anger in your voice
your remind me to whom I belong

When I look away
and I cannot see your face
I don't see how you look at me
but I know your still in that place

But when I choose to look at you
I know I am secure
because no matter where I am in life
There is on things that's for sure

You can see everything
there is nothing I can fake
but even greater than that
there is nothing you cant take

I see the way you look at me
with a look, words cannot tell
And when iIsee that look
I know in my soul that all is well

"Flawsome"
Walking with God
Brick walls
