Stand by you

a poem by Cinde Dreyer, South Africa - poetry writer, author, poet

Rest my love, for you are weak
Lay in my arm and weap
Let your hopes and fears fall down your check
And when you are able to speak

I will listen
I will watch
I will be strong for you

How often you have been
My temple of release
My pillar of hope

Rest my love, your pain runs deep
Lay in my arms and sleep
I hope you dream of peace
And when you wake

I will be right beside you
I will hold you
I will comfort you

Let me return the love
You have always given me
Let me bear your burdens
That you have held for so long

No more will you be alone
No more hidden tears
No more silent fears

I am asking you
To let me be all that I can be
For you
To you
With you
