MYRA

a poem by Conrad Kruger van den Bergh, South Africa - poetry writer, author, poet

Her poise and beauty is a dream I keep
a wish for slumber where I’ll never wake
for in enchantment I’ll forget I sleep
within her place of charm, where souls don’t ache;
and in her splendour I might never leave
yes, never might I rise to meet the day
for in her vision I shall find reprieve,
that single reason for my thoughts to stay;
and as I’ll lie unconscious on my bed
in reverie above this world, apart
to even daybreak I might just seem dead
but it’s her essence that subdue my heart;
yes, few allure illusions of this kind
as she, who’s gentle manner stills my mind.
