Vive la Difference

a poem by Betty Janko, USA

Though for me she was a dichotomy
Modest and shallow in equal measure
The love of my life she will always be
With memories I will always treasure.

No concept she, of ascetic thinking
She flaunted her wont, then claimed what was due
Leaving her partner baffled and blinking
With her furtive glance, and her smile askew.

So nonchalant, at times she would appear
She was a vision, a complexity
With silken movements, as she sauntered near
A true enigma, and a mystery.

No other was like her, all will agree…
It’s because she was my cat, don’t you see?

* This is about my favorite cat who acted like a dog, so she was doubly loved.
