the Mountain..

a poem by Dale Costello, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

hold on tight
to a heart.. draining the night
of every star
moons as they are
time as it renders

into seconds
where they pause
in applause
at all that light
storybook open

to a favourite page
the sounds running
ink.. as it plays

tighter
that noose at your neck
all that Man can expect
of nature
the beast tamed

oceans as they reign
moon
where it wades
in and out of the fray
the invisible day

courting the inevitable
floor
falling away..

and tighter still
emotion
at pure ego's will
a prayer as it echoes
river as she flows

strangely uphill
fighting gravity
unknowing
all that can and can't be
mountain inside him

crumbling
into light and atoms
all that ghosts can't say..
