A Summer’s Evening Song

a poem by Dwayne Leon Rankin, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

The night is here, with stars so bright,
To guide us t'ward the coming day.
Let us sing ‘neath evening light,
Till daylight comes our way.

Sing softly on this special eve,
Those melodies that soft doth ring.
From stars aloft, we may receive,
The peace their light doth bring.

And find within that darkness, soft;
The beauty found, as nature’s gift.
The wonders seen, beheld, aloft,
As t'ward our sleep we drift

Listen to the Sounds of Love;
So pure and sweet, so soft each word.
That comes from all the stars above,
Within that even, heard.

Be now with us and guide our way;
Guide us by these stars so bright.
Guide us to another day,
Through sleep found on this night.
