Betrayed by pretty blue eyes...

a poem by Myrna Martin, USA

He broke my heart so deeply...
My heart shattered in pain...
It has been a year since I have seen him...
I am hoping his name and face fades...
Then within two weeks, I have seen him...
Not once, but more than twice...
I walk right by, and continue on...
Hoping my heart has turned to ice...
Yet damn, this rose colored lense...
This perfect shade, of perpetual pink...
I think back on the sweet times and smile...
My anger does not go that deep...
I think of blue eyes, and soft words...
Hand holding, laughter, and then...
Betrayal, and lies filter in...
He was a liar, a good one, even then...
He said, God brought you to me...
I will love you, and protect you too...
I want your family to be my family...
I want to marry you too...
Oh, such pretty words...
My heart was fully drawn in...
To a man with pretty blue eyes...
But, his heart was full of SIN....

Emotional Abyss
Pain...
DON't DO IT...
