photosynthesis..

a poem by Dale Costello, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

nights
that stayed too long
blocking out the sun
the careless fabric
of everyone

torn where we dream
silent in a scream
wordless
but for poetry..

alien
and invented in our name
wonder
wounded in the shame
of blind exile

time stretching into strings
tensile
life as She sings
in my ears..

I watched the moon
drown in a sunrise
I read Plath
til the words'
dried in my eyes

another friend for the end
beholding
the paper folding
in on the brave..

waiting
knowing it wont be long
dying
for the sake of a song
barely sung

but for you
the sun filtering through
bleeding grey into green
page.. into leaf
