I still can't say goodbye

a poem by Myrna Martin, USA

I think of you quite often...
I miss the sound of your voice...
The way you would knock on the door...
That playful rap and we would know...
I miss you so much it hurts...
To not hear your melodies...
Sometimes I think your heart was full of heartache...
You were quite sensitive you see...
Yet, you had your temper, and your compassion...
This passionate Scottish man.... All of us have dualities...
And we have to find our way, as best we can....
I miss your stories... Your random visits to my house...
I miss going to dinner, and just sitting about...
I think of you quite often, and tears fill my eyes...
It has been 14 years, and I still can't say goodbye....
