For the lovers

a poem by Tracy Marie Windisch-Mason, Canada - poetry writer, author, poet

Within illness
She cradles his care within her arms
Long gone
yet still within
as a locket varnished within time
Dusty within the years of unkempt
He never left her
Disguised are the yesterdays
Like long shadows upon distant hallways
Her time is now
For at the last she so bravely shines
he looks away
Cannot keep this love
He once held so very deep
