a poem by Nancy Ellen Crossland, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

Like fragmented leaves in the wind,
Words of explanation seemed futile.
That blueprint imbedded in their minds
Seemed unchangeable;
Indelible ink
With no revisions accepted

Still, I plodded on through minds set,
Clamped tightly;
Locked in obstinate refusal
Their vision pre-determined
With no alterations

Change rocks the boat of mediocrity
Thought to be smooth sailing
Yet, none truly comprehend;
Their footsteps not my own

Illusion was blind.
My goal
My inspiration;
For waiting at journey's end
Life change,
Mine alone to make

He waits.
To love, adore, and cherish me
With unwavering anticipation.
