Summer

a poem by Thomas Chisholm, UK

Welcome back old friend of mine
Please hang around and spend some time

Oh how i've missed your warm embrace
You have put a smile back on my face

Thank you for the flowers that you bring
And for the birds in the trees that sweetly sing

Your glowing presence brightens up my day
What can i offer that will make you stay

Enjoy these moments while they last
My fondness for you is growing fast

I know one day that you will be gone
When Autumn arrives to sing her song

I'll wait for you until spring is out
Until you return that i have no doubt
