For Marcia on her Birthday

a poem by Dwayne Leon Rankin, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

Lightning struck and thunder rolled
As she heard those words shouted out.
The ground then trembled with that noise
As that message spread all ‘bout.

People shoot in fear and dread,
As the truth was realized.
Then into that valley they were led;
No more was she seen disguised.

Yes, old she was, must older still
Than all they round had thought.
But soon the air, their words did fill;
Those words this news had brought.

They danced and sang to her that day;
Their smiles on each around then grew.
Words of joy that went her way;
“A Happy birthday now to You!!!”
