Paradise In Ashes

a poem by Chad Martinez, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

Morning Began,
For those spared by evacuating,
A City/ really Town/ in the beautiful
Northern California Mountains which was destroyed by a raging inferno caused by a Wildfire that they ironically called "The Camp Fire" (even though it was more than likely an "Electric Company Fire")
This enormous fire had devastated a community which has had to work hard for all they own, (owned).
Now looking like many hundreds had lost their lives, so innocent,
So wrong,

We pray for All those who have suffered because we know they have been through so much.
I hope that of the 600 still missing
That Many start to get in touch,
But in this day and age, with so many missing,
Things look grim in Paradise.
May our prayers truly touch them, as those who remain try to recover and rebuild,
And may the Lord be with the Fire Fighters and keep them safe.
It's hard to explain what those people are still up against, but when Mother Nature has droughted a place, much like what Paradise has seen for years, the danger had never been so extreme,
November 8th, 2018 was California's Worst Wild Fire Tragedy.
Dearest Paradise, we hurt with you.
