BLACK FRIDAY / RODEO OF THE STRONG

a poem by Kevin Rottweiler, USA

BLACK FRIDAY / RODEO OF THE STRONG:
Children with runny noses
clutching a bag of popcorn
others seeking the vending machines
one pooped on the floor--
black Friday, rodeo of the strong
like Bison, the people enraged
salivating like a bull behind the gates
entrenched in blood, saliva and sweat--
scraping split hooves against the concrete
bursting forth like a new baby cow
released from its mother's womb--
into the shopping mall
where the nerds, geeks, rich & poor
seek a spot on the mall's marble lined floor
a cheap dining set, a computer tablet
a shaving set for another refund
this is just no fun
a lady screamed, as the crowd
ran over her replacement hip
another man, ran with a limp
falling down, like drunken circus clowns
everyone enraged, everyone engaged
in mall shopping, and like bird droppings
people sick in the stalls, another black Friday
at the Mall
