"The Christmas Craze" (Musketeers Challenge) #95

a poem by Richard Gildea, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

(My humble response to Chad's chosen title)

What happens to Mankind o'er Christmastide?
Has meaning now been lost in mists of time!
When once He came amongst (to here reside)
Before we then dispatched; a heinous crime
'The Light upon our World' (as He was known )
Brought hope to those who dwelt in helpless state
Thru Him a second chance - for to atone
All sins He would absolve by meeting fate
Suspension of belief may help one's cause
When called upon to steer thru festive haze
Whilst some in "Spirit of......" retract their claws
(Still others, suffer from this strange malaise)
'Ere losing sight of 'Gift' by Grace conceived
We need to reacquaint - "As once Believed"
