Child as Mother

a poem by Lady Shaula Salathe, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

Child
As Mother
Stands tall
Silhouetted on the
Stage
Grace and Poise emanate from
a Wisdom
Inherited.
Rising, the silhouette dances
The music being both
Master
and
Pupil.
Within the dancer there is
a Love
Passed down through
Generations
In joy the dance is given
and with joy received.

As the music fades
Silhouetted
A single tree
Stands tall
From within the tree
comes the seed
and therein lies also
The Tree

Mother
As Child

[Written for Sandy Tobias at the passing of her mother, the teacher and leader of Kew Calisthenics College - circa 1984]
