We will meet soon, You and I

a poem by Lady Shaula Salathe, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

We will meet soon,
You and I, -

You, who I know so well
and have talked to often.

You, whose likes and dislikes
I know, too.

You, who I called into being
From a place I know not where.

And your hands and face -
What of these?
Will they look mine?
And your eyes -
Will they be filled with the same
wonder that will shine in my own?

Soon it will be time, little friend
And so, now,
I wait.

[May 1996 written at The Treehouse, pregnant with Xander]

Pregnant with Life
To the bravest man I know
