a poem by Melyssa G. Sprott, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

The seagull king—
a keeper of flocks,
a setter of suns,
the crasher of rocks.

Castle of sand,
a fortress of shells.
The sea is his mistress—
and she never tells.

The seagull king—
a thrower of stones,
a riser of suns,
the picker of bones.

This watery kingdom,
a climber of dunes,
watcher of lighthouses,
a bringer of moons.

The seagull king—
a tyrant of tides,
a counter of grains,
in sand he resides.
