Dreaming of Warmth

a poem by Betty Janko, USA

I dream of sunshine, along paths of green
Beside winding brooks of waters pristine
Thru meadows and trees where warm breezes blow
As beads of moisture make skin flush and glow

Short sleeves and sneakers, the dress of the day
For picnics and games, for eating and play
Where children can run, content to be free
Laughing and swinging, perhaps climb a tree

Window boxes still see Pansy faces
While stems of roses are bunched in vases
The earth is now warm, and life is in bloom
Once again born from Mother Nature’s womb

No stiffness, cold toes, no hiding inside
Keep dreaming of warmth and enjoy the ride!

* For those of you who are weary of the cold.
