Summer heaven

a poem by Mark Wayne Gittings, UK

I step out to the morning sun
Beautiful colours, summer has begun
A new day, a brand new slate
Pretty flowers beyond the garden gate

I recognise this atmosphere
With scented roses and a sun sincere
I close my eyes and soak it all in
The essence of summer is set within

Bees and butterflies surrounding the flowers
Doing their duty for a number of hours
Relaxing here at a quarter to eleven
Dwelling in the moment in this summer heaven
