a poem by Lee Emmett, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

daughter involved
in organising inclusive
events for Moomba:
disabled people now
participate in
water-skiing events
on the Yarra
because she is on duty
I get to have an exciting day
with two grandchildren
who scoot by carnivals
along river banks
to Southbank where
strawberry milkshakes
are the order of the day
take the lift up
to St Kilda Road
then at Federation Square
girls are given show-bags
by SES volunteers
cruise up escalators
to visit Koori Heritage Trust
before meeting up with son
for lunch at ACMI cafe
then more scooting
along the gardens
opposite National Gallery
of Victoria
children delighted to
see their Dad walking
towards them to collect them
for more adventures
