Challenge 98, For there are many great deeds done in the small struggles of life

a poem by Nishu Mathur, India

I thank those
who are like a silver lining in the cloud
like flowers bunched in a bouquet
like earth, ready to soak an outpouring
on a thunderous, rainy day

Who bring relief like a cup of tea
or cheer like a glass of wine
who add sweetness to life like honey -
at times, a dash of lime

Who lift spirits like a much loved song
or an act that makes one smile
who are ready to hear an odd soliloquy
or read like a verse sublime

I thank those
who help in ways that aren’t so little
who nudge, and poke, and give
and remind us
as we ride the carousel of life
to not forget to live
